Alma 48:17

"Verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men." - Alma 48:17

BOOYAAA!

This week was a pretty fantastic one! We set a date with one of our investigators to get baptized next Sunday!!!! BOOYAAAAA!!! She’s the daughter of the lady we've been teaching for a while, and she is solid.  She started going to seminary at 6:30 am and she goes to YW and church every week! It’ll be a good one.

This week a lot of our appointments fell through so we ended up walking around and knocking a ton of doors. Not a whole lotta people answered but I imagine it’s because they all had peep holes in their doors and they see it’s us and swerve...sad but true! Their loss.

Our ward had a Chili cook-off this week too and me and Lu-Rey got to be the judges.  So that was cool, we had loads of chili!

That's all for this week.  Not a whole lot, but it was good.

Hope y’all have a great week!

More Miracles

Well I don't have a story this week to top mine from last week...but I will try my best!

We have been teaching and, missionaries in the past have been teaching, this lady for about 2 years now, and this week we had a miracle!!! Her husband went into the hospital with chest pain last Sunday afternoon, he had blockage in his heart and so they did triple bypass surgery on Saturday. Throughout the week she said she had a conversation with God, which is crazy because she doesn't believe we can receive communication from God. And God said she needed to be baptized!!! WOWZA sometimes it takes things like that to soften people’s hearts to hear the gospel and listen for the Holy Ghost to receive answers to prayers!!

We are teaching a mom and daughter and this week was really good for them. I challenged the daughter to pray about if she should get baptized. Two days later she went dress shopping with a friend in the ward and the dad, who happens to be the 2nd councilor in the bishopric.  After they shopped for some dresses he took her to Deseret Book and bought her brand new scriptures!!! She said that was an answer to her prayer.  So cool how the Lord works.

Also this week we got to go to the temple and do baptisms with our recent convert. She had her Grandma, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa to do.  It’s always the best to do family names in the temple.

The black box of death was installed to the vehicles this week...we named it Herman and he talks to you, and you could say we aren't on the best of terms right now...anywho I’m sure we can work things out.

Hope y’all have a great week!

Roadkill

Boy oh boy, do I have a story for y’all!

I’ll start out with the spiritual stuff. So me and Elder Lurey were out knockin’ them doors and we knocked about 20 and 1 person answered and it was just lame. Then, just like all other missionary stories go, we knocked one last door...a guy answered and I gave him the spiel and most people say ‘Nah I’m good thanks.’ and close the door and that's what I was expecting, But this guy said ‘Sure I’ll listen’, and I started to say ‘Ok man, have a great day.’ but I stopped myself and just stared at him in disbelief my mouth hanging open.  I’m sure it was awkward but I gave him a watered down version of the Book of Mormon and the Restoration right there on his front porch! He is an awesome guy and we are going back to teach him later this week.  We had really good lessons with our investigators, we taught the Plan of Salvation and it’s the best lesson by far.

But, me and Elder LuLu had an interesting experience.  We were crusin down the road and there was a dead rabbit that got hit by a car on the side of the road. So I flipped a U-turn and picked it up! After we got home that night we gutted it, skinned it, cooked it and ate it! It was wild!!! I have the pelt and a lucky rabbits foot! Good times this week.

This week all the cars in the mission get the black box of death...it tracks everything you do, like how fast you drive, how fast you accelerate, how fast you go around corners and that jazz...so there goes all the fun driving times! But anywho, I’ll get over it! Hope y’all have a great week!

Fun Week

Welp Y’all this week has been pretty awesome. I don't think I have laughed so much in 1 week ever. Elder Lurey is the best. He’s been out 3 months and is a convert so he still has some fire in him.  He likes to say "pump fiah" (fire) and he likes to throw "phat parties" and he is just hilarious. I love it. He likes to work hard too. This week we were all over the place and really busy teaching gators, less actives and recent converts. It was just an all around solid week.

Funny story this week. Elder Lurey didn't knock any doors in his first area so he wanted to go knock some, so we went. I just let him go. One door the guy opens the door and the first thing Lurey says is "Hi, can we come in?" and the guys says ‘Umm no, you can’t.’ and closes the door. Elder Lurey just looks and me with the face of, ‘What did I do wrong?’ I way dying laughing, it was so hilarious!  This is going to be a good transfer with this guy.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

A Crazy Week

Holy Cow.

This week has been probably the craziest week so far on my mission. My comp was struggling with depression so he was with another elder pretty much all week. I pretty much had a sleep over every night with somebody new. I was bouncing around from place to place like a beach ball at a pool party! Ended up though that he went home yesterday. Hope things work out for him and he can come back out.

But anywho, in my fun crazy week, I had another miracle this week. Heidi, our investigator, can’t get baptized because she is going through a divorce and the husband won’t let her get baptized and is dragging his feet on the divorce. I was talking to President Ellis, one of the councilors in the mission presidency, and said we could see if we could get special permission to baptize her without her husband’s permission. So he emailed President Orgill and he said we could petition the First Presidency about it! HOORAYYY!!! So she could get baptized next month!

Also I’m staying in my area for yet another transfer! YES!! My new companion is Elder Lurey, right now he is serving in the ward next door.  He's Tongan and from Hawaii.  He's awesome and I’m excited to work with him.

Another Miracle this week…Claudia, our recent convert, her and her family were having a rough time financially, and all her kids shared a bed and she slept on a little mattress in the front room. The ward decided they needed to help so I get a call from her home teacher, and he says he's got a bunk bed and mattresses and dressers and the works and to meet us there that night. We go over and put it all together for her and she is just so happy and shedding some tears and what not.  Dang it was so awesome!!! Our ward is the best! Welp, that's it for this week. Hope y’all have a good one!
