Alma 48:17

"Verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men." - Alma 48:17

Howdy Y'all!

Hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas, with a lot more snow than me!

This week was pretty alright, my companion’s havin’ a hard time so not a whole lot got done missionary work wise. We got to go to the temple on Wednesday and that was awesome. I learn something new every time to go.

We taught our investigator on Saturday and we talked about the ministry of angels, Elder Holland had a good talk on that.  The spirit was felt, that's for sure.

Saturday we went over to an elderly lady's house and did some yard work for her, then she made us lunch. I wish I could do service all day everyday!

This morning we got to go on a little hike and I took my guitar on it so at the top of the mountain I was strummin’ a couple Eagles’ songs and all that good jazz, solid hike.

That's pretty much all for the week! Hope y’all have a great New Years Day!

Baptisms

Just a little update for this week.  Scott's dad has an advanced form of Plasma Cell Leukemia and the doctors only give him a couple of weeks to live.  Heavenly Father orchestrated many tender mercies through two inspired mission presidents.  Both Matthew and Zachary's mission presidents allowed them to skype Cal on Monday night.  It was a sweet, spiritual time.  The boys looked great and were so happy.  Here are a couple of pictures of them skyping with Cal.

one he sewed on his own)

Silly face time...

Zachary had three baptisms this weekend.  Claudia, Moses and Sandra were baptized on Saturday and then confirmed in sacrament meeting on Sunday.  Zachary was pretty excited about the weekend.

Aloha Y'all!

Aloha yall!

So it’s been an interesting week, but the good news is I’ll be stayin in Alicia Park for another transfer! I’ll get a new companion tomorrow, hopefully he’s a good one.

Claudia and her kids didn't get baptized on Saturday, but they are going to this Saturday.  We got the program filled out and the building reserved and everything so I’m confident it will happen!

We did a lot of service this week.  We set up tons of Christmas light, moved furniture all around a house, just little odds and ends and stuff all week. We also had our Christmas party. That was fun because we got to watch a Christmas Carol. So that was weird and cool watching since we watched tv, haha!

Yesterday at church in sacrament mtg was the best! It was all about missionary work and holy cow, it was like the smog back in good SLC in the winter, but with the Spirit! You could touch it! We had our recent convert Audrey talk, then our ward missionary, then the lady who helped fellowship Adina was there and she was straight fire! Man it was awesome! And Claudia and her kids were there and they loved it!

Hope all y’all have a fantastic week!

Betsy Ross...

Howdy.

This week was a long and somewhat sad week. I had to say goodbye to Elder Ferguson this week, he is now down at Camp Pendleton. He'll be there the rest of his mission! So now I’m with the elders in the ward next door.  They are good guys, but now we have to cover both wards again so this week is going to be crazy busy again.

But I don't have a whole lot of time today, but we hopefully will have a baptism this Saturday, a mom and her two kids. So y’all can pray for that. We have a mission Christmas party tomorrow so that’ll be fun too.

My American flag ripped this week so I had to go Betsy Ross on it and sewed that puppy up! But today is also Pearl Harbor day! So you best believe I’m reppin’ (representing) the Stars and Stripes tie!

Ya’ll have a great week. I’ll talk to ya in a week!

Hoy Toledo People...

Holy Toledo People,

Well, I’m going to start off this week with Thanksgiving. We went over to one of our investigator’s houses and we had a great dinner. We had turduckin, which is a turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with a chicken, it was divine! They smoked it with applewood too so that just added to it. After that we went on over to our other investigator’s house and played games and had pie.  It was a pretty nice Thanksgiving.

Then the next day our investigator got baptized up in Utah!! It was awesome that my fam got to go and apparently it was top notch!

Yesterday though was crazy...we went to hike Saddleback Mountain. It’s a 16 mile round trip hike and dang I felt every single mile of that... We left at 3 to go up and hike and me, I forgot a coat, the only one I had was in the wash.  We get up there and it was about 30 degrees up in the parking lot in the canyon.  Anywho, when we started hiking I warmed right up.  We got to the top in about 4 hours, we were haulin’ up! I took Freedom up there with me, so that explains the awesome pictures. Also there was some snow so I did a snow angel (:  But after we hiked down there was a car sitting there and it was leaking oil pretty bad, so then the owner of the car came back and he was on a date, lol.  So we were going to help him fix his oil pan he cracked on the rough road in. Some elders took the truck to get stuff to fix it. While at the gas station apparently the elder put diesel fuel in the truck when it takes regular...dang, he messed up hard, lol. So we sat and waited and waited, then they came with another car with the stuff to fix it. They did put some oil in and were ready to go but there wasn’t enough room for all of us in the car...so me and Elder Brown walked...and the sun set and we had no flashlight, no coat, no phone, no nothin.  Ya, missionaries plan real well let me tell you, haha. So I go into the canyon when it was dark and left well after it was dark, it was a good time, but now I have a cold.

Anywho, hope y’all had a good week!
